Los Alamos can now add the citation “One of the Top 20 places to Live the Western Dream” to its many other “Best of” awards, including being named as one of “America’s Dreamtowns,” from American Cities Business Journal and one of the “100 Best Communities for Youth,” from “America’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth.”American Cowboy magazine announced Monday that Los Alamos had received the citation in its first ever top-20 list. The citation was not something the community had sought, but that American Cowboy magazine had contacted the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation about because it had heard about Los Alamos, said Kevin Holsapple, executive director of the LACDC.“It is somewhat surprising to people who don’t know the breadth of what goes on in the community,” Holsapple said, “but if you look at Los Alamos’ history as a Ranch School, what’s happening at the stables with the fair and rodeo parade, and add in the mission of the Valles Caldera to be a working ranch, you can really see how we embody the Western lifestyle here.”Where are the top places to live if you are an active Western lifestyle enthusiast looking for a place to plant your feet and put down roots?
