Boy Scout Troop 129 conducted an Eagle Court of Honor for Dylan Stupka of Los Alamos on Jan. 6 at White Rock United Methodist Church.
Stupka was born in Colorado on Aug. 11, 1991. He joined Cub Scouts at age 6 and finished by earning all Webelos pins and the Arrow of Light in 2001.
At this time, he joined Boy Scout Troop 129. On the road to Eagle, he earned 38 merit badges, including the scout-craft trilogy of pioneering, wilderness survival and orienteering at Camp Cris Dobbin under the tutelage of his brother Jake.
He was the first camper to complete orienteering that summer.
His present goal is to earn three Eagle palms before Aug. 11.
Stupka has attended six summer scout camps. The highlight of his scouting adventure was an 87-mile trek at Philmont Scout Ranch.
Having climbed Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert, he is twice a holder of the Troop 129 altitude record. Since age 5, Stupka has participated in ice hockey and has won New Mexico state championships at two levels. He was rated the number one high school goalie in the state in 2007.
As a senior, he continues his quest for a championship at the high school level.
