The University of New Mexico Lobos came back from a 16-point deficit early in the second half to win their men's basketball season opener.
The Lobos played early in the morning Tuesday against Davidson, earning an 86-81 victory to open the 2012-13 campaign.
UNM struggled in the first half, making just 9 of 26 attempts from the field as Davidson (0-1) went ahead 45-31.
UNM shot a little better in the second half (13-for-28) but rebounded considerably better. Davidson had a 13-3 rebounding edge at one point in the first half, but the Lobos ended up winning the battle on the boards by a comfortable 45-28 margin.
Alex Kirk, former Los Alamos Hilltopper star, was one of four Lobos to finish in double-digits scoring. Kirk had 14 points in 25 minutes of play. He also finished with seven rebounds, three of them on the offensive side of the court.
