ALBUQUERQUE — University of New Mexico senior catcher Mitch Garver was named Mountain West Player of the Week for games played from March 18-24. It is his first such recognition this season and the fifth of his career.
The Albuquerque native hit .625 (10-for-16) as the Lobos went 3-2 last week, including a 2-1 series win against Nevada in MW play to remain tied atop the conference.
Garver recorded at least one hit in all five games, extending his current hitting streak to a career-best 22 games, while accounting for two game-winning, walk-off hits.
In the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader against Missouri State, Garver drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th.
