The Los Alamos Aquatomics swim club placed eight swimmers among the high-point athletes at its home swim meet.
The Aquatomics co-hosted the Los Alamos Invitational last weekend at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center. The Aquatomics entered 67 swimmers in the meet. In all, more than 230 athletes from around the state took part.
Among the top performers for the Aquatomics Andy Corliss in boys 9-10 and Ming-Yuan Lo in boys 8 and under.
Additionally, Lo set a state record in the boys 8 and under 200-meter individual medley. Lo’s time in the race of 2:56.93 was nearly half a second better than the previous record, set in 2010.
Lo owns another individual record, the 100-meter butterfly he set last October and was part of the Aquatomics’ record-setting 100 freestyle relay from 2012.
The other top performers from Los Alamos included Kalen Melton (second in girls 9-10), Niamh Short (second in girls 13-14), Alana Goodwin (third, girls 13-14), Max Corliss (third, boys 11-12), Nikolai Nelson (third, boys 8 and under) and Savannah Kimball (third, girls eight and under).
