The White Rock Little League All-Stars are still alive and kicking at the Majors All-Star state tournament in Los Lunas.
White Rock dropped its second round game to Enchantment Sunday, but bounced back to top Clovis American Monday night in an elimination game to move on.
White Rock will face the winner of tonight’s elimination game between Eastdale and Mile High. That game will be played at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In Sunday’s contest, Enchantment capitalized on some early White Rock miscues, scoring four unearned runs in three innings. It would add three more runs — two unearned — in the fifth to go up 7-0 and hold on for a 7-1 win.
White Rock, which was stymied on two good scoring opportunities by some solid Enchantment defense, finally got on the board in the sixth with Tyler Thorn’s RBI single, bringing Jake Downs around.
Thorn was 2-for-3 on the day, with Jared Mang finishing 2-for-3 and Downs was 1-for-2 with a walk.
In Monday’s elimination contest, pitcher Franklin Archuleta threw a two hitter to lead White Rock to a 5-1 win over Clovis.
Archuleta issued just one walk and an earned run in the win. He was helped out by the White Rock defense turning in a 4-6-3 double play in the second inning and a 1-3-2 twin killing in the fifth.
