Dear County Council,As you have discovered, there are many problems with the alternate location proposed by opponents of the skate park. I personally would hate to lose those lovely old trees and encroach on the green area surrounding the pond.I think it’s fair to say now to the opponents of the skate park that their suggestions have been seriously considered but are not workable. It’s time to keep the promise we as a community made. It’s hard enough for kids in Los Alamos; this will be the first project in a long time, that I can remember, focused on young people, not adults. We have a lovely senior center, in part funded by the county. That is an excellent way to show seniors what a valuable asset they are in our community. Now let’s do something for the kids to show we value them as well. You were on target with your original plan for the skate park. Opponents were listened to and alternatives examined. It’s time to make good on the promise you made to the kids. It’s a good, workable plan – good for our kids and community.Rebecca CabildoLos Alamos
