Lee, Ferreira among tops at Xcel meet

In the New Mexico Xcel state championships, Los Alamos School of Gymnastics’ Atomic Tumblers brought home six all-around medals, a gold, 4 silvers and a bronze, as well as 27 individual event medals (11 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze).
As a team, the Atomic Tumblers placed second in the state at the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, and third in the Platinum level.
LASG’s Nyla Lee competed in the silver child’s division and struck gold. Lee brought home four gold medals one for a 36.65 all-around, one for a 9.20 vault, one for a 9.60 parallel bar routine and one for a 9.10 balance beam routine.
Lee also received a bronze for her 8.75 floor exercise routine.
Aaliyah Walker also competed in this division and took the bronze in the all-around with 35.50.
Walker earned a silver medal on beam (9.05) and bronze on both vault (8.75) and bars (9.1).
Faith Koh of the Atomic Tumblers competed in the silver seniors division finishing fifth with an all-around score of 34.70. She won a gold on bars with a score of 9.30, and she took silver on the beam with a score of 8.95.
In the child’s gold division Addie Richie took silver with a 34.60.
Richie picked up three event medals, including a gold on floor (8.60), and bronze on bars (9.00) and beam (8.55).
In that same division, the Tumblers’ Brianna Fryer took gold on beam with 8.85. Allison Warner was fourth on vault with 8.50.
In the gold junior division, Suyana Ferreira took silver with 36.65. She also won gold in 3 events, bars (9.35), beam (9.25), and floor (9.20).
In the gold senior division Cherie McCreary was seventh.
In the Platinum child division Anna Clark won silver in the all-around with 35.80. Clark won gold on floor with 9.10, silver on vault with 9.20, and bronze on beam with 8.70.
Elyse Phillips also competed in this division. Phillips took gold on beam with 9.00.
In the platinum senior division Ramya Stevens took bronze on floor with 8.80.
In the bronze child division Andrea Chapman took silver on vault with 8.80.
In the Bronze senior division Hannah Mullen took silver on bars with 9.10 and was fourth all-around 34.60. Sarah Hutchens was sixth all-around.
