Sunday, Bryce Ave. Presbyterian Church in White Rock will host a series of special lectures on the writings and life of Jonathan Edwards by the Rev. Dr. Carl Bogue, one of the foremost Jonathan Edwards scholars in the United States today.  

Jonathan Edwards was a preacher, theologian and missionary to Native Americans in the early 18th century and is widely regarded as America's most important theologian and one of America's greatest intellectuals.

He played a critical role in shaping the First Great Awakening in the United States.  

At the 9 a.m. Sunday School hour, Bogue will speak on “Edwards and the Covenant: An Historical Model for a Contemporary Debate."  

At the 10:20 a.m. worship service, he will preach on the topic “How Can I Know I Am Elect?"

 After a simple lunch following worship, his topic will be “Justified by Works Via the Covenant of Grace."

Bogue is a retired minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and has a mater's degree in divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a doctorate in theology  from the Free University of Amsterdam.

He has lectured at  numerous locations including the Covenant Theological Seminary, the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the Reformation International Theological Seminary.

Bogue also lectured at the Whitefield Theological Seminary, Geneva College, Grove City College and Christ College in Lynchburg, Va.

Besides serving as  pastor for more than 30 years at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Akron, Ohio, he has ministered in 24 countries around the world.   

The public is invited to attend and benefit from this event.
