All three candidates for the Third Congressional District of the U.S. House of Representatives will appear Tuesday at a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women. The forum is 7-9 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. Socializing and refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m.
Candidates attending are Dan East, Republican; Ben Ray Lujan, Democrat; and Carol Miller, Independent.
All three candidates will have four minutes to introduce themselves. Following that, there will be questions from the audience. To encourage a wide range of topics, each audience question is limited to 30 seconds, and responses are limited to 1 and 1/2 minutes.
At the conclusion, another half hour will be available for informal discussions with the candidates.
The Third Congressional District seat is currently held by Democrat Tom Udall, who is running for U.S. Senate.
This forum presents a special opportunity to hear all three candidates together.
The League will have voter registration and voting information available at the forum. Oct. 7 is the last day for voter registration and the beginning of absentee voting at the County Clerk's office. Early voting at alternate sites begins Oct. 18, and the General Election Day is Nov. 4 with the polls open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
