League to host candidate forums

The League of Women Voters invites Los Alamos residents to a candidates’ forum in Santa Fe from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, south-east corner of St. Francis Drive and West San Mateo Road. Congressional District 3 candidates Tom Mullins and Ben Ray Lujan will present platforms and take questions.
The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos will hold two forums at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 and Oct. 7 in Fuller Lodge, with 6:30 p.m. refreshments. Rep. Lujan will not participate as Congress will be in session. Tom Mullins will attend on Oct. 5, as will House Dist. 43 candidates Stephanie Richard and Jeannette Wallace, Magistrate Judge candidates Pat Casados and Gary Ahlers and unopposed candidates JoAnn Johnson, Alan Kirk and Marco Lucero.  Y. Ellen Hong will not be able to attend.
The Oct. 7 forum is for county council candidates Fran Berting, Deborah Gill, Jim Hall, Betty Ann Gunther, Ken Johnson, Geoff Rodgers and Ron Selvage. Information about the proposed County Charter amendments will be presented.     
We urge everyone to register to vote before the Oct. 5 closing date. Our Voters Guide to the General Election will be published by the Monitor Oct. 6.
