The community is invited to a special Mother’s Day service at the White Rock Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It will be held at 366 Grand Canyon. The service begins at 9 a.m. and will include talks by high school students from the congregation: Logan Tietjen, Cora Pack, Zack Wilde, Brianne Fanning and Ethan Clayton.
The Ward choir will present a special musical number, "Home is a Special King of Feeling,” by John Rutter of Oxford University. This song is the finale from "The Wind in the Willows,” an entertainment originally written for The King Singers and the City of London Sinfonia. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir recorded the song in its album titled, "Love is Spoken Here.”
Tiffany and Todd Lovell will teach a special Adult Sunday class on “Women in Scriptures.” This will provide a nice review of scriptural women from Eve to the present time.
At 11 a.m. there will be a meeting of the women’s Relief Society. This is the women’s organization for the Mormon Church. Rebecca Stradling, president of the Relief Society, will give a special lesson to encourage and uplift mothers. A chocolate gift will be given to all mothers in attendance at the Mother’s Day services. Members of the community are welcome to attend any or all of these services.
