Late field goal by Sartans sinks LA

-A A +A

The Los Alamos Hilltopper football team appeared to be done. Then it appeared to have St. Pius X on the ropes.

But a 19-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to play gave St. Pius' Sartans a 10-8 victory at Sullivan Field Friday.

Los Alamos, which trailed the entire second half, scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion with 2:51 remaining - Brice Van Etten found Tristen Hill for a 50-yard score on a fourth-down play - but St. Pius drove 67 yards to the Los Alamos 2-yard line to set up the winning field goal.
