Both Los Alamos Hilltopper golf teams finished in the top three at their home invitational Monday.
Los Alamos had its second home event of the 2011-12 season at Los Alamos Golf Course. In all, 14 schools participated in the tournament.
The Hilltopper girls finished with 434 strokes, although they were well back of tournament winner Santa Fe, which had a 388 and earned a qualifying leg toward the state Class 4A tournament.
Jayme Quintana of West Las Vegas had the best round of the day, shooting a 77, holding off Taylar Jaramillo of Belen by one shot. Bernalillo’s Shanelle Tafoya finished with an 86.
For the Hilltoppers, Emma Haines and Emily Stearns both finished with 103s to pace the team. Bri Sanderson finished with a 104.
Faith Koh shot a 124 and Emily Johnson had a 140 to round out the Hilltoppers’ scoring.
On the boys side, Johnny Osden finished with an 83 and Raul Roybal had an 85 to lead the Hilltoppers.
Individually, Grants’ Joseph Trujillo picked up a two-shot victory over Jonathan Ford of Raton — its No. 4 player — and Jordan Trujillo of Bernalillo. Trujillo shot a 3-over 75 to pick up medalist honors.
Bernalillo, the team to beat for the District 2-4A title this season, had a team total of 334 shots, topping Raton by 14. Los Alamos was third with 359 shots, edging Valencia in a scorecard playoff.
Other individual finishes for Los Alamos included Jin Park’s 90 and Deion Fellers’ and Noah Marriott’s 101s.
