William Enloe, who has served as chief executive officer of Trinity Capital Corp. and Los Alamos National Bank since 1979, announced his retirement effective last Friday in a letter to the bank’s board of directors.

In his letter, Enloe, who has been with the bank since 1971, said that he has watched the bank grow from a small community bank with just more than $11 million in assets to a bank with more than $1 billion in assets.

“I believe I leave as my legacy an institution that cares about its employees, its customers and the communities it serves and I believe that the board of directors, Steve Wells and the rest of the management team will continue to operate the bank in the same situation,” he wrote.

Enloe said his plans for the future are uncertain at the time but he intends to take some time off to rest and relax.

“I expect that I will find new challenges,” he wrote. “I have enjoyed the many years that we have worked together to make the Los Alamos National Bank what it is today.”

Wells said he has worked with Enloe for 28 years.

“I have a great appreciation for the work Bill has done,” Wells said. “Bill helped build this bank from a small bank to the largest state community bank. He has put together a great management team that delivers products every day.”

The Board of Directors has initiated a search for the new Chief Executive Officer Wells, the president of the bank and secretary of Trinity, will serve as the Principal Executive Officer of Trinity until a new Chief Executive Officer is named.

Enloe began his career as a loan officer from 1971-73, then became a cashier from 1973-75, vice president from 1975-78, president and chief executive officer from 1978-1994 and chief executive officer since 1994.

Additionally, Enloe has served as chief executive officer and chairman of the Board of Title Guaranty since May 2000 and TCC Advisors since its formation in February 2006.

In addition to his service to Trinity, Enloe has been committed to New Mexico charities and economic development efforts.

He also is on the Boards of the American Bankers Association Government Relations Committee, N.M. Bankers Association, Los Alamos Trinity Site Revitalization Project Advisory Committee, LANS Venture Acceleration Fund Review Panel (RAB), The Santa Fe Institute, The Delle Foundation, Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation, Los Alamos Economic Development Land Use Council and Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc.

Enloe also is a managing member of KKSE, LLC and he served as a director for the Federal Reserve Board in Denver from 2008 to January 2010.

Bill Enloe's retirment

While it has been 25 years since we moved from Los Alamos, we still recall the excellent service we got from LANB and especially from Bill during our 14 years in Los Alamos - 1972-86. Thank you, Bill, for your many years of dedicated service! May you and Kathy enjoy your well-deserved retirement!
