The Los Alamos Middle School Hawk cross country teams earned a four-team sweep of Wednesday’s Española Invitational.
The Hawks earned three overall first-place finishes and placed at least three runners in the top 10 in each race Wednesday to win. The Hawk seventh grade girls finished with 21 points and the Hawk seventh grade boys were nearly as good, earning just 22 points.
Wednesday’s race was the second in five days for LAMS, which also participated in the Academy for Technology and the Classics’ Everybody Invitational Saturday. Los Alamos’ boys and girls also won the team competition at that meet — the teams weren’t separated by grades Saturday.
Individually, Zoe Hemez was the winner of the eighth grade girls race at Española, while Paulina Burnside won the seventh grade girls race. In the eighth grade boys race, Jevon Montoya was the individual winner.
The top LAMS finisher in the eighth grade boys race was Ben Rees, who finished second overall.
