Lindsey Jacobs, 18, of Los Alamos suffered critical injuries that resulted from a car crash Nov. 6 in Oregon.
She remains in serious condition at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:38 p.m. when the Lexus sport utility vehicle carrying Jacobs and two other passengers and driven by Margaret Allen, 20, from Orlando, Fla., was en route to Eugene for an environmental convention, according to news reports.
The Lexus was westbound on Interstate 84 when Allen exited onto Highway 730 to look for fuel.
While driving toward Irrigon, Allen reportedly decided to turn around and head back toward Interstate 84.
She pulled onto the south side of the highway and attempted a U-turn when her SUV was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound commercial truck driven by a 47-year-old Hermiston, Ore. man.
Allen and a male passenger, Khoa Nguyen, 20, from Tacoma, Wash., were able to get out of the vehicle on their own with minor injuries.
Jacobs and Katie Radosevic, 18, from Arizona, had to be extricated by fire department personnel.
All four occupants of the Lexus were transported by ambulance to Good Shepard Hospital in Hermiston.
Jacobs and Radosevic were then transferred by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital
