Often, you don’t hear about student accomplishments once they leave the community, but one student will ensure that hearing of her accomplishments is only the beginning.
Kelsey Souza, a 2008 LAHS graduate, recently received the Distinguished District Editor Award from Key Club International. Souza was presented the award from Key Club International President, Grant Lin, at the 65th annual Key Club International Convention in Denver.
Souza is no stranger to awards. Most recently she won district recognition, representing New Mexico, Arizona and El Paso. Souza received the award after serving as Bulletin Editor of the Southwest District of Key Club.
Souza’s duties as editor included assigning articles, collecting submissions, lay out, editing, printing and mailing. The Key to the Southwest is the official publication for the district.
Kiwanis member Morrie Pongratz said, “Kelsey printed 1,000 copies of each eight-page issue, four times throughout the year and mailed them to the Key Clubs in 102 schools across Arizona, New Mexico and El Paso. She also developed and maintained a web site for the district and had an article published in the International Key Club publication, Key Club Magazine.”
