The Los Alamos Lads of Enchantment, the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society announced that Jonathan Friedman was appointed as the new musical director of the chorus, July 26.
Friedman is new to the area and the chapter and brings 28 years of barbershop singing, craft and directing to the chapter.
Friedman recently said, “Our chorus has great potential and is loaded with very talented and motivated performers. Believe in yourselves. All I ask is for your attention, attendance, discipline and trust.
“Together, we can look forward to great times of harmony and fellowship.”
Friedman previously gave vocal direction to the Tacoma Totemaires Barbershop Chapter in Washington state and organized the Temecula Wine Valley Harmonizers in California.
Friedman succeeds longtime choral director Stan Bennett, who helped found the Lads of Enchantment chorus 20 years ago and has served as its director since its inception.
Bennett decided to “take a break” and pursue his other passion — singing as a bass in the chorus and with Four Praise Quartet.
Friedman will lead the Lads’ Annual Show Oct. 26 and 27.
He is a table games director at the Santa Claran Hotel Casino and lives in Española.
