Lab to confer on work force restructuring Monday

Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Michael Anastasio will update lab employees Monday on the status of workforce restructuring plans that were mandated by the Department of Energy. An all-employee meeting has been called for 1:15 p.m. in the auditorium of the National Security Sciences Building.A notice said the laboratory had submitted an official Specific Workforce Plan to DOE for approval on Nov. 9, and that the meeting would provide an update on those efforts. The plan is intended to address uncertainties related to funding for the current fiscal year. Congress recently passed and the President signed the Department of Defense appropriation bill, which contained a second continuing resolution extending funding levels from last year through Dec. 14, when Congress is expected to recess for the holidays.

LANL burn plan delayed one week

The prescribed burns planned for Los Alamos National Laboratory have been rescheduled. They are now scheduled to start on Nov. 26.LANL plans to do two prescribed burns on laboratory property at Technical Area 68 and Technical Area 36. These areas border N.M. 4 near White Rock. A previous announcement said they would start Monday, but the plan has been postponed for a week.
