A hazardous materials crew worked Wednesday and Thursday to clean up several oil spills at the Los Alamos County Eco Station. The oil leaked from an electrical box that contained polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), according to an announcement by Los Alamos National Laboratory. The electrical box had been placed in the trash inadvertently during an electrical systems upgrade. The electrical box and other trash was returned to the Laboratory for proper disposal. An investigation is being conducted into how and why the electrical trash bin ended into the trash.
