Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) – November 6th Brown Bag Performance
featuring the students from the MTNA honors competition.
Please join the Los Alamos Arts Council for its Brown Bag Performance Series Wednesday, November 6th, 2013. This is the second concert of the series and features local students from the MTNA honors competition., in an intimate noontime performance. The LAAC's Brown Bag concerts showcase local preforming artists and are free and open to the public. Performances are generally the first Wednesday of the month at noon in the Pajarito Room at Fuller Lodge. Don't miss the second Brown Bag event of the season on Wednesday, Novemeber 6th, 12:00 P.M. At Fuller Lodge.
Karin Ebey will preform “Coelophysis on the Rio Grande” an original piece for the MTNA competition. Ms. Ebey's teacher is Juanita Madland. Jennifer Wang, winner for the level II MTNA competition, will preform two Claude Debussy pieces “Le fille aux cheveux de lin” (the girl with the flaxen hair) and “Prelude” (Suite Bermasque). Ms. Wang's teacher is Madeline Williamson. Santa Garcia-Alarid, the MTNA level III winner, will preform Frederic Chopin's “Nocturne”. Mr. Garcia-Alarid's teacher is Coleen LaPorte. Victor Kim the Honors level IV first place winner will preform Frederic Chopin's “Ballade No. 1 in g minor. Mr. Kim's teacher is Aejin Chang. Jenny Wang the MTNA Jr. entrant will preform Ernest Block's “Waves” and “At Sea”. Ms. Wang's teacher is Madeline Williamson. Maria Jones will preform two sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti Sonata Number 10, and Sonata Number 2. Ms. Jones' teacher is Charlene Cox-Clifton. And Presley Gao, the MTNA Jr. winner, will preform Ludwig Von Beethoven's Sonata. Mr. Gao's teacher is Jacquelyn Helin. The first place winners will go on to the MTNA regional competition. Please congratulate all of the students and teachers for their part in this wonderful competition process.
The MTNA (Music Teacher's National Association) was founded in 1876 by Theodore Presser and 62 of his colleagues. The purpose of the MTNA is to advance the value of music study and music-making to society while supporting the careers and professionalism of teachers of music.
