On Saturday night, the Los Alamos Hilltopper football team found out its seed in the upcoming Class AAAA state football tournament.Los Alamos received an eighth-seed by the New Mexico Activities Association’s tournament selection committee. And while it will get to play a first round game against Moriarty at home, should it get past that game, a juggernaut will await.Los Alamos ended up just one round removed from the defending state champion and number one seed Artesia Bulldogs. Artesia knocked Los Alamos out of the state playoffs in 2006.Further, because Los Alamos hosted Artesia last season, the Hilltoppers will have to travel down south to face the Bulldogs on their turf. The site of second-round games is determined by history and not seeding.Capital, the District 2AAAA champion which knocked off Los Alamos Oct. 26, grabbed a sixth seed and will host 11th-seeded Santa Teresa in the first round.Other first-round games include 12th-seeded Belen at 5th-seeded Kirtland Central and 10th-seeded Piedra Vista at seventh-seeded Silver.Aztec, the District 1AAAA champ, was given the second seed in AAAA, while Goddard took the three seed and St. Pius X was seeded fourth.
