LA resident to serve as state Republican Party treasurer

Los Alamos resident and former Congressman, Bill Redmond was elected to serve as treasurer of the New Mexico Republican Party Saturday.

Redmond represented the 3rd district in Congress from 1997 to 1999. The Chicago native is an ordained minister and has also taught at UNM-Los Alamos. Redmond will serve a two-year term that begins Dec. 5.

The party's state central committee also elected former Hobbs mayor Monty Newman chairman of the party.
