The Los Alamos Hilltopper basketball teams placed four players on the All-District 2-4A first teams for the 2011-12 season.

A pair of Hilltopper senior boys and the Hilltopper girls’ two top posts were given nods on the All-District team. Thomas Russell and Nick Baker both picked up first team slots for the Hilltopper boys, while Hayley Each and Monika Teter both made the girls basketball All-District first team.

Baker and Russell are both three-year veterans on the Hilltopper squad, which finished third in both the regular season standings and the 2-4A tournament this year.

Each, who became one of the top big girls in 2-4A this season, and Teter, who was among the top scoring posts in the district, helped the Hilltoppers to a third-place regular season district finish and a playoff berth.

For the season, Christian Martinez of Capital was picked as the district’s Most Valuable Player on the boys side. Lauren Quintana of Española Valley was the MVP for the 2-4A girls.

Earning the Coach of the Year honors were Capital boys coach Mark Senteney and Santa Fe girls coach Elmer Chavez.

Earning nods for the All-District second team were Nate Carver, Erin Kirk and McKenzie Logan of Los Alamos.
