The Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball team knocked off the Miyamura Patriots in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday.
Los Alamos shut out the Patriots in a tight game one, winning that 4-0, then thumped Miyamura in game two, 12-1.
The two games were the final two for Los Alamos (8-6) before the start of District 2-4A play.
Hilltopper manager Mike Gill said it was a very good effort for his team in all three phases, offense, defense and pitching.
Jared Mang picked up the win in the first game, giving up just one hit in seven innings. Mang was quite efficient, needed less than 60 pitches to earn the win.
Additionally, Mang, one of the premier players in the state, hit a 2-run home run early in the contest to give himself some cushion.
His little brother, Connor Mang, threw 5-2/3 innings to take the game two victory, settling down after a rocky start to shut Miyamura down after a first inning run.
Gill said Connor Mang and Jake Downs had excellent defensive performances in the first game as well, to aid in that win.
Los Alamos will take on Bernalillo at home Wednesday afternoon to open 2-4A.
