The Los Alamos Hilltopper football team picked up its first win of the 2011 season, holding off the Bloomfield Bobcats 21-20 at Sullivan Field Friday night.
Los Alamos got 136 yards on the ground from Arnoldo Ortiz, starting in his first game of the season after breaking his finger during the preseason, while the Hilltopper defense forced two turnovers on their side of the field in the third quarter to help preserve the victory.
Danny Finn connected with Jared Mang on a 53-yard swing pass in the second quarter, while Ortiz rumbled for a 45-yard score in the third quarter. Ortiz also converted a two-point try following his touchdown run, which proved to be the difference in the game.
