The Los Alamos Hilltopper hockey team will open its 2010-11 season tonight when it hosts the Taos Ice Tigers.
Los Alamos, which plays in the New Mexico Interscholastic Ice Hockey League, will take on the Tigers starting at 8 p.m.
Also, the Hilltoppers will play Saturday against the Eldorado Eagles. That game is set for 10 a.m.
The Hilltoppers are the defending NMIIHL pure team champion. Teams in NMIIHL can be “pure,” representatives of one school, or “composite,” comprised of teams from more than one school.
To start the season, the Hilltoppers will be at home for three of their first four contests. They will play Cleveland High School, the newest team in the league, Nov. 19, followed by a contest Nov. 20 against Rio Rancho and a Dec. 3 date against Cibola.
Los Alamos is the only team in the NMIIHL that hasn’t yet started its season. So far in 2010-11, the Albuquerque Outkast have gone undefeated in seven games to lead the league standings.
Here is the 2010-11 schedule for the Hilltopper ice hockey team:
