The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team picked up a win in its final game before the start of the District 2-4A season Saturday.
Los Alamos nearly equaled its scoring output from the first three quarters in the fourth quarter, scoring 26 points to pull away from the Class 5A Manzano Monarchs. Los Alamos picked up a 54-47 victory at over Manzano at Griffith Gymnasium.
Hayley Each had 17 points for the Hilltoppers, who have now won two straight contests and improved to 9-9 on the season.
Manzano (8-6) actually led 32-29 early in the fourth quarter. Despite dropping in 18 points in the final quarter itself, Los Alamos was able to put together a good inside-out game and hit its free throws down the stretch.
Los Alamos opens 2-4A play Tuesday night hosting the Bernalillo Spartans.
