The Los Alamos Hilltopper hockey team will have its final home game tonight before a lengthy home ice hiatus.
The Hilltoppers will take on an old rival, the Taos Ice Tigers, at the Los Alamos County Ice Rink. That game is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
Following that contest, the Hilltoppers will be out of town for over a month. They travel to the Mid-Season Showcase Tournament, hosted by Taos Jan. 6-8, then have a three-game set in Taos Jan. 21-22. Los Alamos won’t be back home until Jan. 27.

With New Mexico Interscholastic Ice Hockey League teams entering week nine, the Hilltoppers are in seventh place. They have a record of 2-5-1 and have earned five points on the season.
Cibola, which thumped Los Alamos 6-0 in the teams’ first meeting Dec. 9 on the Hill, is still a spotless 13-0-0 and is quickly pulling away from the rest of the NMIIHL. Taos (7-3-0) is tied point-wise with three other teams behind Cibola with 14 points.
The Tigers swept their three games last week, topping Rio Rancho 8-1, La Cueva 7-4 and Cleveland 7-2.
