The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls tennis team finished second out of the five competing schools at last weekend’s pre-District 2-4A seeding tournament in Santa Fe.
Los Alamos’ girls topped Española Valley, Capital and Bernalillo last weekend, but fell in their dual against Santa Fe Friday morning. With that loss, the Hilltoppers will now be the No. 2 seed in the District 2-4A championship tournament, while Santa Fe will be the top seed.
The Demons are led by eighth grader Brandee Fulgenzi. Fulgenzi played a big role in the 5-4 victory over Los Alamos to earn the top seed, knocking off the Hilltoppers’ Sidra Hsieh-Ratliff at No. 1 singles then helping procure a win at No. 1 doubles.
Also Monday, the Hilltoppers played a dual against Española Valley, winning that dual 9-0. Among Monday’s winners for the Hilltoppers were
Laura Whicker, Astrid Hengartner and Katilin Lemke in singles competition.
