The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team was given an No. 9 seed, but not a first round home game, in the upcoming Class 4A playoffs.
The Hilltopper girls (16-12), who finished third in the District 2-4A race this season, will travel to Deming in the first round of the playoffs, which is scheduled for Friday night. The Deming Wildcats (17-9) were the winners of the District 3-4A tournament championship this season.
Girls Class 4A first round games are tentatively scheduled for Friday and boys 4A games for Saturday.
Los Lunas, which had been ranked No. 1 for much of the latter part of the 2012-13 regular season, got the No. 1 overall seed in the 4A girls tournament. Roswell got the No. 2 seed, followed by Santa Fe, St. Pius X and Española Valley.
In 4A boys basketball, Roswell earned the No. 1 overall seed. St. Pius X was the No. 2 seed in the boys draw, followed by Los Lunas, Bernalillo and Albuquerque Academy in the top five. Capital, which swooned down the stretch in District 2-4A play, slipped to the No. 6 seed.
As expected, the Hilltopper boys weren’t entered into the 4A draw.
