La Fonda on the Plaza, a Santa Fe hotel, announces the completion of its extensive eight-month room renovation project, comprising the most significant upgrades to its guest rooms and suites since 1929.
The newly renovated rooms and corridors feature craftsmanship and artwork that reveal and honor La Fonda’s rich and storied past, and were designed by Santa Fe firm Barbara Felix Architecture + Design. “After years of planning and months of hard work, La Fonda’s renovation project has brought welcome modern touches to this Santa Fe landmark,” hotel chairman Jennifer Kimball said.
“We are thrilled with the results and excited to welcome a new generation of travelers to visit the new La Fonda.”
With the exception of the previously refurbished Terrace suites, all guest rooms and suites received aesthetic and infrastructure upgrades.
La Fonda’s team conducted extensive research into the cultural and artistic elements of original designer Mary Jane Elizabeth Colter’s style, and the important details were carried into the new La Fonda.
These can be seen in the rooms’ new lighting, floor coverings and handcrafted furnishings. The result is a modernization of the historic property without compromising its authenticity and unique character.
True to La Fonda’s support of the local art community, all rooms display original artwork owned by the hotel.
La Fonda’s rooftop Bell Tower Bar, boasting what locals claim is the best sunset view in Santa Fe, also received upgrades during the renovation project, expanding the seating area by 500 square feet.
The open-air outdoor oasis also now has its first-ever kitchen, allowing the Bell Tower to serve lunch and light fare for the first time. Created by La Fonda Executive Chef Lane Warner, the new menu features casual favorites infused with the flavors of Santa Fe.
Demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to authenticity and the community, La Fonda relied heavily on local craftsmen for the renovation project.
Additionally, no staff cuts took place. For interviews, more information or high-resolution photography of the new La Fonda or Bell Tower Bar, please contact Veronica Valencia at firstname.lastname@example.org or 995-2377.
