La Fonda on the Plaza, a Santa Fe hotel, announces the completion of its extensive eight-month room renovation project, comprising the most significant upgrades to its guest rooms and suites since 1929.
The newly renovated rooms and corridors feature craftsmanship and artwork that reveal and honor La Fonda’s rich and storied past, and were designed by Santa Fe firm Barbara Felix Architecture + Design. “After years of planning and months of hard work, La Fonda’s renovation project has brought welcome modern touches to this Santa Fe landmark,” hotel chairman Jennifer Kimball said.
“We are thrilled with the results and excited to welcome a new generation of travelers to visit the new La Fonda.”
With the exception of the previously refurbished Terrace suites, all guest rooms and suites received aesthetic and infrastructure upgrades.
La Fonda’s team conducted extensive research into the cultural and artistic elements of original designer Mary Jane Elizabeth Colter’s style, and the important details were carried into the new La Fonda.
These can be seen in the rooms’ new lighting, floor coverings and handcrafted furnishings. The result is a modernization of the historic property without compromising its authenticity and unique character.
