ESPAÑOLA - The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls basketball team got off to a hot start in the first quarter of its semifinal game Thursday night.
Los Alamos scored 15 points in the opening period against the Española Valley Sundevils. Unfortunately for the Hilltoppers, they wouldn’t match their early offensive numbers again until the fourth quarter.
The Sundevils pressed the Hilltoppers into submission Thursday, winning 51-34 at Edward Medina Gymnasium. The loss knocked the Hilltoppers out of the District 2-4A tournament.
Los Alamos (16-12) couldn’t find its rhythm offensively after Española Valley employed trapping full-court pressure in the second quarter and forced 7 second quarter turnovers.
