The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys basketball team dropped another contest and slipped to 0-13 on the season against the Albuquerque Academy Chargers Thursday.
Los Alamos fell 60-35 at Griffth Gymnasium to Academy (7-2) heading into today’s game against the Taos Tigers. It was the eighth loss of the season by Los Alamos against a Class 4A opponent and the second loss of the year to the Chargers — the Hilltoppers took a forfeit loss against the Chargers in the second round of the Joe Armijo Invitational when they were caught up in a mid-December snowstorm.
With some tough opponents on tap for the next two weeks, the Hilltoppers are looking at the very real possibility of going winless in the nondistrict season.
Taos, a former District 2-4A rival of Los Alamos before dropping down to Class 3A following the 2007-08 season, is 8-4 heading into today’s game.
However, the Tigers have been somewhat up-and-down this season, defeating teams like Española Valley and Santa Fe Indian School but losing badly to Goddard and to Laguna Acoma at the Ben Lujan tournament in Pojoaque last month.
