Boys tennis: Team takes five of six singles contests to win handily

By The Staff

The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys tennis team picked up a solid win over the Taos Tigers Tuesday on the road.
Los Alamos won five of the six singles matches to coast to a 7-2 victory at Taos.
The Hilltoppers and Tigers were District 2-4A rivals until last season and had invariably finished 1-2 in district since 2000. Taos now competes in District 2-A-3A.
Stephen Townsley at No. 1 singles, came up big again, sweeping Erik Christian 6-0, 6-2. Nos. 3-6 singles, Paul Graham, Dalton Smith, Steven McCrory and Forrest White were all winners as well, with Smith, McCrory and White all winning in straight sets.
The victory Tuesday came on the heels of a rough weekend at Albuquerque Academy. Los Alamos, without most of its regular top six players, lost four duals at Academy’s tournament. Most of the team’s regular top six returned for the Taos dual.
