The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys varsity cross country team picked up a monster victory this weekend in Arizona.
The Hilltoppers topped some of the best teams in the southwestern United States to claim an impressive win at the Desert Twilight Classic Invitational.
Los Alamos won the sweepstakes meet with 98 points, paced by star Sean Reardon, who established himself as one of the top runners in the country with his performance. Reardon’s time of 15:39 put him in fourth place individually.
In all, four of the Hilltoppers’ runners cracked the top 25 individually out of nearly 170 runners taking part.
In the team standings, Los Alamos outpaced Great Oak, Calif., which earned 154 points.
Also Friday, Los Alamos’ girls finished sixth at the meet, which took place in Phoenix, Ariz. Los Alamos, running against two of the top 15 teams in the country, finished with 162 points.
The fourth-ranked team in the nation, Xavier Prep, finished with an amazing 28 points, placing three runners in the top five overall.
The Twilight meet is run a night run, the second of the Hilltoppers’ 2012 season, and is among the most prestigious regular season interstate meets in the country.
