The Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball team went 1-2 and finished sixth in the St. Pius X Invitational last weekend.
Los Alamos bounced back from an opening round loss to El Paso (Texas) by blasting the Bernalillo Spartans in their consolation round contest Friday.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to a 6-0 lead, thanks to a five-run rally in the top of the second inning.
They would score four runs in the top of the sixth to shut the door on the Spartans, taking a 10-1 victory.
The Hilltoppers and Spartans are District 2-4A rivals and will face each other in he first of three games April 3.
Friday’s win doesn’t count in the 2-4A standings, however.
The win Friday put the Hilltoppers into the fifth-place contests.
Unfortunately for the Hilltoppers, they were routed by Los Lunas, another Class 4A school, 15-2 Saturday.
Saturday’s game was relocated to Rio Rancho High School due to weather concerns.
Today, Los Alamos (2-4) will face the Hope Christian Huskies, a Class 3A team, at Bomber Field. This will be Hope Christian’s first game of the 2013 season.
