The Los Alamos ladies’ senior tennis team won a pair of playoff matches over the weekend to put them into the Southwest Sectionals.
Los Alamos won the Northern New Mexico District playoffs in the seniors’ United States Tennis Association 3.5 division. Los Alamos knocked off both Tanoan Country Club of Albuquerque Saturday afternoon and Sangre de Cristo of Santa Fe Sunday.
In both of the weekend contests, which were held at Urban Park, Los Alamos took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to win the best-of-three playoffs, both by counts of 2-1.
Elizabeth Keating/Lorraine Vasilik, Los Alamos’ No. 1 doubles team, and the No. 2 doubles team of Lee Harris/Kate O’Brien took both of their matches this weekend in straight sets.
Los Alamos was the top seed in the district playoffs. The team will now move on to the USTA’s southwest sectional competition. Dates and times for the sectionals have not yet been announced.
