Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino will host another installment of King of the Cage Saturday night.
This installment of King of the Cage mixed martial arts event will feature 13 contests, all of them including at least one New Mexico fighter. The main event pits Santa Fe 145-pounder Angelo Sanchez against Richard Schiller of Corona, Calif.
Fights begin at 7 p.m.
“We are very excited to bring King of the Cage back to Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino with the ‘Night Stalker’ event,” said resort general manager Scott Eldredge in a press release.
MMA fighters employing boxing, wrestling and Asian-style martial arts tactics, along with old-fashioned street brawling as they face off in an octagon-shaped cage. Fighters face off in three or five 5-minute rounds and fight rules are kept at a minimum.
The winner of Saturday’s main event will take on the winner of a co-main event fight, Chris Culley vs. Donald Sanchez, to fight later this year for the vacant King of the Cage bantamweight title.
The final weigh-in for the event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Buffalo Thunder.
Also listed as a co-main event fight is a women’s bout between Stacey Sigala of Hobbs and local favorite Zuhey Quezada of Santa Fe.
