In a move that will bring county residents even better customer service in a convenient “one-stop shop” at the County Annex at 901 Trinity Drive, the KanDu center will be joining the customer service representatives from the Department of Public Utilities on Monday.KanDu will be located upstairs in the Annex, adjacent to the existing Utilities customer service. The last day for accessing services from the KanDu Kiosk currently located at Suite A of the modulars in the Municipal Building parking lot will be Friday. The KanDu functions will be unchanged; they will still process utility payments, property tax payments, and 311 calls, along with issuing overpass banner permits, lemon lot permits, and making cemetery lot arrangements.Oversight of KanDu will shift from the Communications/Public Relations division to the Department of Public Utilities’ Customer Service division. The three customer service representatives in KanDu will join forces with three from the Utilities division. The three utilities representatives will begin cross-training on the KanDu functions after an initial transition period, and the KanDu representatives will soon be cross-trained in the functions for utility hook-ups, work order requests, billings and collections.KanDu Center first opened in March 2004, and has received high marks from citizens for excellent customer service in the last two citizen surveys conducted by the County. The move to unify customer service functions is part of the long-term vision of the County Council.  When KanDu was created by Council action in 2003, the unification with Utilities Customer Service had been envisioned for 2008.Despite schedule changes for the Municipal Building over the last year, County Administrator Max Baker and Utilities Manager Robert J. Monday agreed to proceed. The past few months have been spent planning for the physical move of KanDu to the Annex, and the internal transitional changes that will occur as a result of the location and functional/division shift.Residents should see little change in KanDu or Utilities services and should in fact receive prompter assistance when dialing 311 (662-8075 from cell phones) or visiting with customer service representatives at 901 Trinity.New Combined Services• All Utilities requests & questions• Utilities bill payments• All County requests & questions• Employee locator• Property tax payments• Lemon lot sale permits (used cars)• Diamond overpass banner permits• Cemetery plots• Capital Project updates
