The public is invited to attend a piano concerto recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Fuller Lodge.

The four students who were chosen by a juried audition to participate in the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra’s Jackie McGehee Piano Concerto Competition will present the concert. These auditions will held on Feb. 14 in Albuquerque at Keller Hall.

Ten students from throughout the State of New Mexico were chosen to compete for the honor of performing with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra at the annual Mother’s Day Concert. The winners and the alternates also receive cash prizes.

Students winning the honor and performing on this Sunday’s recital are David Li, performing the Mendelssohn “Concerto in G Major,” Kathy Lin, who will play the MacDowell’s “Concerto in D minor,” Peter Song, performing the Shostakovich “Concerto in F,” and Catherine Chen, who will perform the Ravel “Concerto in G Major.” All will play the first movements of these concerti.

Professional pianist Ronald Grinage of Santa Fe will play the orchestral reductions on the second piano. All four students study with Lynn Lamb.

The public is cordially invited to support these young artists by attending this free recital and the reception following the performance.
