The Texas country-dance band the Derailers will play Friday at Entrada Business Park as part of the Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series.
Not only will it be Holiday Inn Express and LA Food Co-op Night, but also KTAOS FM 101.9 will be there and Deborah and Russ Gordon will celebrate her 38th wedding anniversary.
“I’m gonna help her celebrate since I was there in Petaluma, Calif., 38 years ago,” Gordon said. I remember that day very well and I also remember Aug. 21, 2009.”
On Aug. 21, 2009 the Derailers last played Los Alamos. According to Gordon, they put on a great concert, but at 9:15 p.m. the band said they would play their last song.
“Their contract said they’d play ’til 10 p.m. and I sighed and grumbled to myself, ‘C’mon guys, don’t you love music and performing? You’ve been doing this great show, keep on rocking in the free world,” Gordon said.
The Derailers started the “last song” at 9:15 p.m. and played a medley until 10:10 p.m.
