Stephen Fife had a rocky first outing for the Albuquerque Isotopes this season, and his second outing wasn’t an improvement.
Fife was touched for 6 runs in the bottom of the first Wednesday night against the Reno Aces. Fife, the team’s No. 1 starter in the rotation, was the losing pitcher in a 9-2 loss at Reno.
So far this season, Fife has been the losing pitcher in both his starts. The 7 earned runs he allowed Wednesday put his ERA at 14.73.
Albuquerque will wrap up its series at Reno tonight, then open up the first of four home games Friday when it hosts the Tacoma Rainiers. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
The Isotopes (4-2) had won four straight contests before Wednesday’s loss.
The first four batters in the Aces’ lineup had a combined 10 hits off four Albuquerque pitchers.
