The Salt Lake Bees blasted three home runs to top the Albuquerque Isotopes in their series finale Thursday at Isotopes Park.
Salt Lake’s Robbie Widlansky went yard twice in back-to-back at-bats, and John Hester added a late home run as the Bees routed the Isotopes 8-1.
With the win, Salt Lake (73-53) won the four-game series, winning three games in a row, while Albuquerque managed just a three wins in the eight game homestand.
Albuquerque’s loss, combined with a win by Oklahoma City, puts the Isotopes (67-59) three games behind the RedHawks (70-56) heading into a five-game series starting tonight in Oklahoma City. The RedHawks are in first place in the PCL American Southern standings while the Isotopes are in second.
Except for two games during its homestand, Albuquerque has struggled offensively. It was limited to six hits Thursday, with only Eliezer Alfonso managing more than one hit.
