The Albuquerque Isotopes will come back from the PCL All-Star break with a four-game homestand.
The Isotopes will take on the Omaha Storm Chasers in a four-game set starting Thursday. During this homestand, the Isotopes will host the Albuquerque Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which is scheduled for Saturday.
Saturday is a big day for the Isotopes, who will also host “Retro Night,” taking the field in the uniforms of the Albuquerque Dukes — the city’s former PCL club which moved to Portland following the 2000 season. The event also features post-game fireworks.
Also on tap for the Isotopes’ homestand is a rally towel giveaway Thursday, a youth replica jersey giveaway Friday and an Isotopes hat giveaway Sunday.
Albuquerque (56-42) is currently in first place in the PCL American Southern division standings. It is two games ahead of Round Rock and has won six of its last seven outings, including taking three of four on the road at Iowa prior to the All-Star break.
The Isotopes haven’t fared particularly well this season against the Storm Chasers (44-53), however, going 5-6 in their games, although the Isotopes won three of their most recent four meetings.
Buss playing for PCL All-Star team
Albuquerque’s Nick ‘Chili’ Buss will start for the PCL All-Stars in tonight’s game against the International League All-Stars.
Buss is one of 13 players who were elected to the PCL team by the league’s managers and general managers.
Buss, who joined the Isotopes from Chattanooga to start the 2013 season, is among the PCL’s leaders in several offensive categories. In 2013, Buss has hit .292 in 88 games, collecting 41 extra-base hits, 71 RBI and has slugged .544.
His 10 triples is tied for second-best in the PCL and his 162 total bases is 12th-best.
The 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast at 7 p.m. tonight on the MLB Network.
