A pair of local competitors won the Knights of Columbus state free throw championship.
The K of C contest was held March 23 in Grants.
Among the winners were Eli Iram-Bent, who was the top finisher in the 10-year-old boys competition and Alicia Gonzales, who won the 11-year-old girls competition.
For Gonzales, this was his her second consecutive free throw contest title. She was the state’s best free throw performer in last year’s 10-year-old contest.
With the wins, Iram-Bent and Gonzales are eligible to compete in the national K of C championship.
Also at the state meet, 11-year-old Wilhelm Schmidt, also a local competitor, finished second in that division.
