The Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild is hosting Cindy Brick, from Castle Rock, Colo. at
7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the White Rock Baptist Church. She will present a lecture titled, “The Incredible Crazy.”
Brick is a national lecturer and quilting teacher, quilt restorer, author and an expert on old quilts and quilt history, including crazy quilts. She is an American Quilter’s Society certified textile appraiser, a professional quilt judge and the author of six books, including the “Fabric Dating Kit.”
Brick’s “Crazy Quilts” is the first history based reference on crazy quilts since 1984 and includes a how-to section on making a crazy quilt from heirloom to lightning-fast.
In addition to her lecture, Brick will teach a workshop from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 27 at White Rock Baptist Church.
The title of her workshop is “Color, Fabric and Embellishments for Crazies.” Participants must sign up for the workshop.

On Nov. 16, Los Alamos resident Judy Brownell will lead a demonstration called “Sweatshirt Magic.”
She will lead participants through the process of creating an embellished sweatshirt at the United Church of Los Alamos.
Brownell will take a plain sweatshirt, fabric scraps and thread to demonstrate the steps necessary to transform it into a real show piece.
