Each year, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos offers a program designed for adults who are seeking to know more about the living God through an understanding of the mystery Jesus Christ proclaimed. The program is titled, the “Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.”
Participation is open to everyone, ranging from those who may just be curious to learn what the Catholic Church has to offer, to those who have already responded to the Gospel message and may have participated in other Christian communities, and those lapsed Catholics who may feel drawn to return to the church.
The program is separated into three phases. The first begins with “inquiry” and attempts to explore the fundamental questions of our faith such as, “who is God?” The program then builds into “catechesis” or teaching about the Catholic faith in order to understand the importance of the sacramental nature of the church.
The sacraments of our focus will be baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The final and end goal of the program is to prepare individuals for full reception and participation into the church and its sacramental life at the Easter services.
