The House Republicans held their leadership election Monday night, selecting Don Bratton (HD-62) for Floor Leader, Nate Gentry (HD-30) as Whip and Alonzo Baldonado (HD-8) as Caucus Chair.
This election marks a new direction for the Republican Caucus that has been lead by Tom Taylor for the last six years. Anna Crook has served as Caucus Chair for eight years while Don Bratton served the previous term as Whip.
“I look forward to serving as Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus and equally anticipate Rep. Taylor’s full support. It has been a pleasure working with Tom these past two years. I know his experience and knowledge will be crucial to a smooth transition.” Bratton said.
“I have been truly honored to serve as Floor Leader these past six years, and will do everything in my power to make sure our new leadership team hits the ground running,” said Taylor. “The best thing about these elections is that they are “all in the family.” Regardless of the outcome, we are family and will continue to act as such for the betterment of the state.” Taylor said that he is anticipating a new role that is more focused on legislation, something he had largely put aside due to the duties of Floor Leader.
